Welcome to the Archives of The Paul Rudolph Institute for Modern Architecture. The purpose of this online collection is to function as a tool for scholars, students, architects, preservationists, journalists and other interested parties. The archive consists of photographs, slides, articles and publications from Goldfinger’s lifetime; physical drawings and models; personal photos and memorabilia; and contemporary photographs and articles.

Some of the materials are in the public domain, some are offered under Creative Commons, and some  are owned by others, including the Goldfinger Estate. McCaffrey Residence

  • The project scope is to design a residence for John P. McCaffrey (1935-2020) and Carlyn Lorain (Sundberg) McCaffrey (1942-). John McCaffrey is a graduate of New York University Law School who spent his legal career in the airline industry, first with American Airlines, then with Pan American Airlines, and finally with the International Air Transport Association. Carlyn McCaffrey is a professor at New York University Law School.

  • This is the first of two houses designed for the McCaffreys by Myron Goldfinger. He later designed the McCaffrey Residence for the couple in 1981.

  • The property is listed for sale for $999,000 USD on March 28, 2012. The price is reduced to $850,000 USD on July 13, 2012 and removed on September 29, 2012.

  • The property is listed for sale for $850,000 USD on October 01, 2012 and removed on December 11, 2012.

  • The property is listed for sale for $850,000 USD on April 03, 2013. The price is changed to $799,000 USD on October 04, 2013. The listing is removed on November 13, 2013.

  • The property is sold for $740,000 USD on January 08, 2014.

  • The property is sold for $950,000 USD on August 14, 2018.
