Max Strang: Resilience, Legacy, and Restoring Iconic Modernism: Thursday, October 16th, 2025 6:30-7:30 pm

$30.00

The Paul Rudolph Institute for Modern Architecture is pleased to announce our ‘SpaceMaker Salon Series’ to continue a tradition that grew from Paul Rudolph’s desire to encourage debates about important issues surrounding modern architecture.

The Paul Rudolph Institute presents a critical lecture and discussion with architect Max Strang, FAIA.

Strang, a leading figure in Environmental Modernism and a former protégé of Gene Leedy, will discuss the foundational relationship between his mentor and Paul Rudolph. The conversation will highlight how Leedy, as Rudolph's first employee in Sarasota, was instrumental in shaping the emerging Sarasota School of Architecture.

This timely discussion will focus on the recent, tragic destruction of Rudolph’s Sanderling Cabanas by Hurricane Helene. Strang will share his insights into the challenges of rebuilding and redesigning iconic structures to meet modern standards of resilience, ensuring the principles of Florida Modernism endure for the next century.
